So Sunday was my hour long workout. And then came Monday… where I did absolutely nothing but help my mom with the daycare kids and then go to work. So I already knew that my workouts were going to be thrown off this week because I also work the weekend which means no long workout on Sunday… I’d have to do it another day. Tuesday was the same ordeal, I slept in, I helped mom, I went to work and worked late so I couldn’t go to the gym. Weds comes and I’ve had maybe four hours of sleep, a few hours of work, and one academic meeting later and I’m exhausted so I decided I would take a nap and then go work out. Only I wake up feeling like crap. However, I feel the need to burn off some stress due to some personal issues and decide to go to the gym anyway and not be lazy. BAD IDEA! This workout was so disappointing and discouraging! I only did 1.13 miles in the 30 minutes I was on the treadmill and I was soaked in sweat and so achy. So I decided maybe weights would go a little bit better and I could make up for the craptastic cardio workout and get some lifting in. Yeah, that didn’t happen either. Everything hurt or I was just too weak. So I left very discouraged and feeling like I had a setback… until tonight…
Today was my day off from work… slept in… went shopping.. felt great. So after dinner I wait until about 8 pm to go to the gym when I know Big Brother will be on CBS and I will watch it while I am on the treadmill. Perfect. So I’m feeling fabulous and I get to the gym and first had an issue getting to a treadmill with a tv I could actually watch AND hear Big Brother on but finally did. So tonight I’ve decided if the first half hour goes well I will do my long workout which is 75 minutes this week. Boy did that go over well!! I felt amazing! I went at a sort of slow pace because I didn’t want to overdo it. Tried jogging but unfortunately the ankle just was not going to loosen up and let me run tonight, which is going to happen on occasion, I did have a major sprain exactly two months ago. 3.25 miles later and I am feeling amazing. It’s about 9:30 by now and I want to do a light lift to stretch out my legs. It felt amazing as well. However, I did come home starving and ate a peanut butter sandwich which my friend Jenna told me was the worst post workout snack to eat… so readers… What are good post workout snacks that are high in protein and will also raise blood sugar fast? I know want carby stuff but I don’t want to ruin my total workout calorie burn off by scarfing a ton of peanut butter or fatty proteins. Any advice is welcome.
Tomorrow I think I’m just going to the bike for about 30-45 minutes. And if I’m as sore as I am now I am so going to take advantage of the hot tub in the women’s locker room to loosen up before I do that. I need to do some strength training with this ankle as well and I will take any advice on that as well.
Yesterday was my active day of rest which turned into a lazy day of rest to just get my new netbook up and running and get some textbook work done.
Today however was the challenge. One hour on the treadmill. No ifs ands or buts. I did it however. I took my first half hour slowly so that I wouldn’t try and go hard the whole entire time and end up not being able to finish the hour. So the first half hour I only ended up doing a mile… shitty right? So my total for the whole hour ended up being 2.5 miles. I went at a steady 3.0mph on the second half an hour. I would have jogged some of it but I was exhausted and my ankle was already beginning to hurt. So I have accomplished the first 60 min treadmill Sunday… Next Sunday however I believe is different but I’ll be doing it on a different day since I work.
Now I’m going to sit back and relax and watch Big Brother.
Today I almost thought I wouldn’t have time for a work out. Mom had her carpel tunnel surgery which took longer then we expected at the hospital and then I had to work. I was supposed to work 4:30-9 but ended up working 5-9 and hitting the gym for the very last hour that they were open. Thank god I switched my Thurs/Friday work outs because I would not have had time for a 45 minute work out tonight because the YMCA hours suck (however it’s cheap).
I did 34 minutes on the treadmill and 1.35 miles.
I am now exhausted. Tomorrow is an active rest day THANK GOD and I don’t work tomorrow. I am going to drive out to my grandparents to grab a netbook that they are giving me and then I am going to get some work done and spend some time with my family.

Today was day 3. Had a lazy day and then I went to the gym about 7:45. Was on the bike (switched my cross train day with my normal 30 min day since I work tomorrow I didn’t want to kill myself tomorrow and then have to work) for about an hour. I did approximately 10 miles. 🙂 Not too shabby for not being on the bike machine in forever. I mainly just watched tv while I was on it and pedaling away which is why I was on it for an hour instead of only the 45 minutes required.
Feeling pretty damn good tonight. Didn’t lift much since I did quite a bit of lifting yesterday and I’m a little sore in my arms and shoulders. Came home and got textbook work done and now I’m off to go reward myself with a good book.
Oh … and I may or may not be training by myself now. My girlfriend seems to think she may have injured her foot or something is wrong with it. She goes to the dr in 10 days and I’m praying that they find whatever is wrong with it so she won’t have to be in pain. Even normal walking sometimes is quite painful which sucks considering how much she walks to work and so forth. I like giving her shit though because I’m now working out more than she is and she talked me into doing this lol. But just hoping her foot gets better.
So today was day two of training since yesterday was an active rest day. My active rest day was spent at work from 12-9:20.
Today I once again was supposed to do 30 minutes on the treadmill and did 35 min (5 minute cooldown). Did a few short bursts (30 seconds) of jogging which I didn’t get out of breath for… more just tired out my legs. But still this is better than I could do before when it would cause me to get out of breath. So this is good. Ankle is a bit sore. Went from 1.26 miles on Monday to 1.62 miles today. I am *exhausted*. Not just from working out though. My day consisted of working, running around trying to find stuff for my room (new chair, collage picture frame, school supplies for this semester), riding the motorcycle with my mom, and then the gym. Now I am finally home and relaxing in said new chair and am going to enjoy me a nice Diet Coke and then a water and then get up tomorrow and do it all over again. Except tomorrow I’m actually off work… but I have to watch a few of the daycare kids while my mom runs to the doctor. And possibly pick pictures to go in said new collage picture frame.
So I’m Courtney, going on 22, a student, I work retail about 25-35 hours per week varying on the week… and as you can tell by my blog name I am, yes, a lesbian. A lazy lesbian. However, my girlfriend has walked/jogged a few half marathons in the last few years and somehow talked me into training for one with her despite being 1900 miles away. So I will be training as if I am going to be doing the Urban Cow Half Marathon in Sacramento and really I will be doing a half marathon on a treadmill in some little city in Illinois.
Things about me you need to know:
1. I hate running.
2. I sprained my ankle about two months ago and it is still healing.
3. I’m lazy but I’m a sucker for blue eyes and being told someone is proud of me.
4. I’m out to prove my boss wrong.
So day 1… was today. I went to the gym and did a weak little stretch and hopped on the treadmill. I only needed to do 30 minutes today on the treadmill at an easy pace. THANK GOD! My body is feeling it. However, I finished my 30 minutes which ended up being 1.26 miles which wasn’t too shabby for the first time being back on a treadmill in months and after spraining my ankle as badly as I did. That story is for another post… I then decided to lift some weights after I put my treadmill time in so I did some stuff to help my legs, thighs, and hips, as well as my arms and lower back. I need to focus on my abs too a little bit because I know it’ll help me when I start jogging.
Tomorrow is day 2. Day 2 is an active rest day thank god because I work 12-9 and that will be my activity.
